AUSTIN (KXAN) — Widely scattered downpours and storms will continue to gradually increase in coverage as we head through the late afternoon into the early evening. Still, at their peak coverage, only 30% of Central Texas will see rain.
Temperatures will be increasing to the mid 90s across Central Texas before cooling off with the re-introduction of rain and storms.
This evening and tonight
As we head through the evening, the loss of daytime heating will bring an end to rain eventually. Rain chances will decease gradually with most areas being dry by 9 p.m. or sooner.

Overnight lows will drop back down into the mid 70s by daybreak with the return of overnight low clouds.
Friday forecast
Friday will consist of morning low clouds giving way to plenty of sunshine by midday and some scattered clouds for the afternoon. Temperatures will be seasonably warm again with highs in the mid 90s across Central Texas. Rain chances will be lower with only a 10% chance of isolated shower or storm.

Weekend forecast
The weekend looks hot and mostly dry with high temperatures in the mid to upper 90s. Rain chances are minimal, with few isolated showers possible Sunday east of I-35.

First days of July
As we head into next week we’ll see only low rain chances, but a slightly higher 20% rain chance on Wednesday.

Along with lower rain chances, temperatures will slowly trend upward with highs generally in the upper 90s and very close to triple digit heat into the first days of July.

Early indications suggest a hot July 4th with only a low rain chance.
