(Odesa) – The Ukrainian Navy has confirmed the continued presence of Russian missile-carrying warships on combat duty in the Black Sea, posing a serious threat of cruise missile attacks. As of 06:00 on 2 June 2025, two Russian vessels equipped with Kalibr cruise missiles remain active in the Black Sea, with a total combined missile salvo capacity of up to twelve missiles.
In addition, the Ukrainian Armed Forces report that three Russian warships are currently positioned in the Mediterranean Sea, including one ship capable of launching Kalibr missiles, holding up to eight in a single volley. No enemy ships have been detected in the Sea of Azov.
The Russian Federation continues to violate international maritime norms. Its naval forces have been switching off their Automatic Identification Systems (AIS), in direct breach of the 1974 International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS), which requires vessels to broadcast their position to prevent collisions and ensure transparency in navigation.
Ukrainian officials have also reported a busy day in the Kerch Strait. Twelve ships passed from the Sea of Azov into the Black Sea, with six continuing westward toward the Bosporus. Six ships moved into the Sea of Azov, including four arriving from the Bosporus.
President Volodymyr Zelensky has urged all citizens to remain vigilant and to take air raid alerts seriously, as intelligence suggests the Russian dictator’s forces are preparing for a possible large missile strike. The increased naval activity is believed to be part of these preparations.
Meanwhile, diplomatic negotiations between Ukraine and Russia are expected to take place in Istanbul at 13:00 on 2 June. Despite the talks, military tensions remain dangerously high.
