Iran’s Basij paramilitary organization and Revolutionary guards have attacked students staging an anti-government protest. Video footage shared in social media shows the clash between the security forces and a large crowd of young people. The protesters are waving Iranian flags and chanting anti-government slogans. Protests have been staged in Iran’s Sharif University of Technology and Amirkabir University of Technology in Tehran. Videos circulated in social media show protesters chanting slogans against the government and Iran’s 87-year-old Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Some students chanted “long live King”, with reference to Iran’s exiled crown prince Reza Pahlavi who has positioned himself as the leader of the potential interim government.
