Bulgaria will purchase 12 MARS 3 multiple launch rocket systems to modernize its artillery.
The purchase is part of a broader European initiative based on a German-Israeli agreement to produce 500 units, novinite.com reports.
The Bulgarian government chose these systems over the US-made HIMARS due to shorter delivery times.
The MARS 3 system, also known as EuroPULS, is produced by KNDS under license from Israel’s PULS platform.
Bulgaria will finance the project with a loan from the European Union under the SAFE mechanism.

KNDS and Elbit Systems have established a joint venture to produce the EuroPULS MLRS.
Under the partnership, Elbit Systems provides the PULS launcher technology, while KNDS integrates fire control systems and supplies the product to European customers.
