Anti-government protests in Iran have been continuing for seven days now. The demonstrations are mainly taking place in Tehran, Shiraz, Kermanshah, Mashhad, and other cities. Protesters have taken to the streets, disrupting traffic and chanting slogans against the country’s top leadership, including “Death to Khamenei!”
In some areas, clashes have occurred between demonstrators and security forces. It is also reported that in several cities there have been attacks on administrative buildings and police facilities. Security forces have reportedly failed to suppress the protests in Tehran. Protesters have set fire to the national flag and police vehicles.
There are reports that people have been killed as a result of police gunfire during the protests, although no exact figures have been released. It should be noted that the anti-government demonstrations were triggered by the national currency’s fall to a historic low and a sharp rise in prices.
