France Prepares New Transfer of Mirage 2000 Fighter Jets

France is preparing to transfer Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine and has signed a Letter of Intent to jointly produce weapons in both countries.

This was revealed during a meeting between France’s Minister of Armed Forces and Veterans, Florence Parly, and Ukraine’s Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov.

The two sides discussed speeding up the delivery of fighter jets and providing the Ukrainian military with a record amount of AASM Hammer guided bombs.

As part of strengthening Ukraine’s air defense, the country is also expecting additional supplies of SAMP/T, Mistral, and Crotale systems, along with their ammunition.

Ukraine has proposed jointly improving the SAMP/T system to enhance its ability to counter ballistic threats and speeding up the production of Aster missiles.

During the negotiations, special attention was given to the provision of long-range strike capabilities, particularly SCALP missiles.

The parties focused on the development of innovative electronic warfare systems and the testing of security solutions. To support this, resources will be drawn from an EU loan and the specialized SAFE program, which will ensure the sustainability of defense cooperation.
