New rules came into force in the Russian Federation on June 1 that paralyze Russian collections of money for the war via bank cards. Even legal transfers can now be blocked without a court decision. Russian propagandists are sounding the alarm and are not hiding their genuine panic. Well-known Russian military propagandist Dmitry Steshin is sounding the alarm on his Telegram channel and claims that Russia has taken on so-called "volunteers" and "humanitarians" who have been collecting money to support the army on a massive scale for two years using their personal bank cards. Since June 1, Rosfinmonitoring has received the right to suspend transfers to citizens for up to 10 days – without a trial – if the transactions seem suspicious.
The following may be subject to blocking: frequent small transfers from different persons, transfers without specifying the purpose, debt repayments without documents, non-standard expenses. Formally, we are talking about the fight against money laundering and the financing of extremism. But in fact, the first to be hit are those who feed and equip the army at the expense of public donations. The famous Z-war correspondent and mouthpiece of the Russian trenches Dmitry Steishin responded with hysteria: "Dear humanitarian volunteers, you are screwed!"
According to him, now any "urgent collection" can be paralyzed, and officials, as always, have not offered any legal mechanisms, volunteer registers, or "clean" cards. The phrase "F**k yourself as you wish" is increasingly encountered even in propaganda publics associated with the SVO.
Thus, the money scandal in the Russian army is growing. In these circumstances, it is also expected that soldiers will refuse to fight. Bribery in the army also remains a serious problem. “Bribing to go on vacation is a common practice in the Russian army,” says Ivan Chuvilyaev, a spokesman for the Get Lost foundation. The organization, which helps Russian soldiers, is sometimes approached by military personnel who were able to get off the front lines for money and now want to hide out in Russia or leave the country.
“To give a person a vacation — a month to walk around [at liberty] — it costs from 700 thousand to a million rubles now,” Chuvilyaev says. — “They’ll write on a piece of paper, for example, that it’s rehabilitation for a wounded person.”
There are several schemes for getting out of the front or not returning to it. One of them is through military medics. According to a spokesman for Get Lost, bribery is especially prevalent in military hospitals. The prices for escape from the front vary depending on the situation the serviceman is in. According to a resident of Donetsk who works with the military, even if a person is on injury leave in the “new territories,” that is, in Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhya, or Kherson Oblasts, it is not possible to simply escape from the hospital and go to Russia.
