Against the backdrop of huge losses and senseless "meat" attacks, a systemic crisis is brewing in the ranks of the Russian army. Soldiers are fleeing the front with weapons, refusing to follow orders and massively sabotaging offensives. The situation is no longer isolated – it is becoming the norm. The command is losing control. Two fresh reports from Russian sources indicate that fleeing from positions with weapons has become not an exception, but a pattern. In the area of Velikaya Novosyolka, two servicemen with the call signs "Agat" and "Sizy" are wanted. Both escaped with machine guns and grenades, one of them is wounded and limping. They are not being sought for rescue, but with "special plans", probably for an exemplary reprisal. A reward for information is reported as for dangerous criminals.
The servicemen of the 15th Motorized Rifle Regiment, military unit 31134), operating in the Kupyansk direction, refused to carry out a combat mission. A "terrible commotion" is brewing within the unit, as one source describes it. The command, apparently, can no longer ignore the demoralization: the soldiers’ position is becoming more and more open, and obedience is becoming more and more conditional. "The punishment for simply refusing a combat mission is simple here, although it is unlikely that everyone will be killed," the report says.
According to Ukrainian intelligence and independent military analysts, Russian assaults are increasingly based on the senseless throwing of personnel under fire, without proper artillery support, without armored vehicles, without a chance. Soldiers call these "killer shifts" and "meat missions," and increasingly prefer flight, sabotage, or outright refusal. With no rotations, no supplies, and harsh treatment from officers and commandants, the mood within the army is becoming explosive.
The system built on fear and submission is starting to fail. The command is throwing some brigades to help others, which are already falling apart. There are fewer and fewer reserves, the equipment is old, there is no motivation. Flight and refusal of combat orders are only a symptom of deep demoralization. If such episodes become widespread, the Russian army could face a wave of internal rebellions, desertions and refusals to obey, as already happened in the later years of the Soviet war in Afghanistan.
