The Pentagon has deployed the USS Georgia, a nuclear submarine armed with 154 Tomahawk cruise missiles with a range of approximately 1,600 km, near the Middle East, Army Recognition reported. The South Dakota nuclear-powered attack submarine, armed with 12 cruise missiles of this type, also operates in the region. Additionally, a US Navy carrier strike group, led by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, is deploying to the Arabian Sea in the US Central Command Middle East area of responsibility. It carries three squadrons of F/A-18 carrier-based fighters, as well as a squadron of fifth-generation F-35C fighters.
