Russian President Vladimir Putin, on Wednesday, attended a plenary session of Russia’s upper house, the Federation Council, and chaired a Cabinet meeting to discuss the year’s results.
According to Associated Press Putin thanked members of the Federation Council for their work and support of the “course towards strengthening and developing Russia.”
“Such consensus and commitment to national interests are extremely important for parliament, for both its chambers, and for the country, and in a period of historical trials and global changes, they are simply invaluable. Thank you for this,” he said.
Speaking at the Cabinet meeting, Putin cited stable key macroeconomic indicators, declining inflation, low unemployment, family support measures and a balanced budget.
“Despite all the challenges, Russia is moving forward and developing,” Putin stressed, adding that“the state of public finances allows us to fully cover defense and security expenditures.”
