Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with his Emirati counterpart Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Moscow on Thursday. According to Associated Press relations with UAE are of special importance for Russia, Putin said. “it is very important for us to exchange our opinions today on the situation in the region, in the area of international security,” he added. Shortly after the meeting, Putin said he hoped to meet next week with U.S. President Donald Trump, with the UAE as a possible venue for the meeting, though no location has been confirmed. The announcement came on the eve of a White House deadline for Moscow to show progress toward ending the 3-year-old conflict in Ukraine. Trump seeks to broker an end to the fighting in Ukraine.
