On air on the Russian radio station Komsomolskaya Pravda, Z-political scientist and propagandist Leonid Krutakov unexpectedly debunked the myth of the "liberation" of Ukrainian territories. He acknowledged that the Russian army is leaving behind only ruins and emptiness, making the war itself a senseless catastrophe. Krutakov, usually a staunch supporter of the Kremlin line, suddenly shifted to frank assessments during a discussion of the military situation. He directly addressed the crux of the matter: the modern war Russia is waging is fundamentally different from those of the past.
" No matter how much they tell us that everything is fine, everyone sees that the war is drawn out, that it is bloody, that it is of a completely new type, unknown to us ," he noted.
The propagandist emphasized how official claims of "new successes" diverge from reality. Instead of vibrant cities and towns that could be integrated, Russian occupation forces are seizing scorched wastelands. " They tell us about the ‘liberation’ of some new village, but we see from the footage that it’s a flatland… If in World War II they captured cities with populations, now we’re capturing ruins! Do you understand? Everything needs to be built and rebuilt anew—that’s the problem… If in that war they seized resources, both human and material, then in this one they’re simply being destroyed. I don’t know what’s causing this… But I see what I see. This ‘desert’ needs to be revived. I have a friend from these territories, and he says he has nothing left: no home, no garden, nowhere to return! Emptiness! " the Z-patriot stated. Such admissions are especially valuable because they come from someone embedded in the Z-propaganda system. Such public doubts, even among loyal commentators, signal growing domestic discontent that could undermine the already shaky support for the war within the country.
Another notorious Russian writer Zakhar Prilepin made a bold statement on Russian state-run radio Sputnik. He admitted that Russian aggression against Ukraine will not be victorious. " We won’t achieve victory in the form we dream of. Well, because we won’t achieve it! It’s a process, not a result! We imagine victory as it was in ’45—the red flag over the Reichstag, and we won. It won’t happen in that form… Clearly, we can’t achieve a military victory now for a variety of reasons… It’s a long, painful process ," he declared. Prilepin turned to history to try to justify aggression against Ukraine. He recalled that Moscow had been trying to conquer Ukraine for centuries. It was long, bloody, and ultimately ended with Russia’s collapse. This didn’t teach the Z-patriot a lesson; he demands a new cycle.
