Russia escalates war while U.S. eases sanctions on Russian oil | World News Tonight

Russia is intensifying its attacks on civilian targets and energy infrastructure, as diplomatic deadlock continues over where and when the next trilateral peace negotiations should take place. The discussions continue as the U.S. eases sanctions on Russian oil, giving a boost to Kremlin’s wartime economy.

12,000 kilometers per hour – that’s how fast a supersonic Russian-made Oreshink missile can travel, and now, a batch of these weapons will find their way right across Poland’s eastern border after Belarus purchased them from Russia. This is yet another strand in the web of dependencies between Minsk and Moscow.

As the war in Iran continues, the partial closure of the Strait of Hormuz remains a leading factor of global economic instability. The attacks in the strait led to Donald Trump calling for allies to send war ships to the area, in hopes of reopening the passage and stabilizing markets.
