In Russia, voices dissatisfied with the current government are increasingly being heard. While propagandists previously praised the Kremlin’s actions, they are now allowing themselves to express discontent. This is a sign of certain processes taking place in the aggressor country.
Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman and political scientist Kirill Sazonov, speaking on Channel 24, speculated on the reasons behind the growing criticism of Vladimir Putin’s actions. He speculated on what such statements are preparing Russians for in the future.
Sazonov noted an interesting trend: Russian war correspondents openly express dissatisfaction with Putin’s actions, which prohibit everything. This includes blocking social media and slowing down mobile internet in Russia.
Previously, such statements would have immediately resulted in denunciations of Z-war correspondents, but now, according to the political scientist, they are being reposted.
Kirill Sazonov noted that z-war correspondents are no longer afraid to harshly criticize Putin. He cited a propagandist who writes that "when someone over 70 doesn’t think, but only prohibits everyone and everything, it’s called ‘dementia.’" Sazonov believes that the war correspondent gave Putin the order, which is telling and demonstrates that critics of the Russian government have become emboldened.
"Putin’s critics haven’t yet named him directly. But this trend toward this attitude toward the Russian government is spreading. They’re already heaping criticism on Putin, because they have a feeling he’s not going to last. He’s either losing the war, or he’ll be eliminated by the Ukrainians, or by his own people," the serviceman noted.
According to the political scientist, these statements by Russian propagandists should be trusted because they are very sensitive to the processes taking place in Russian society and the government.
"They’re not wrong, because they survive by always changing their position and changing their tune in time. Because anyone who does this slowly is no longer alive. Therefore, their statements deserve attention—they’re very revealing," he explained.
He suggested that this is how Russian society is being prepared, or is itself maturing, to the fact that the Akela is already old, it misses its targets, and it needs to be replaced with someone. “And then usually some kind of illness occurs, or an overdose of lead in the body, or a blow from a snuffbox, or something else,” noted Kirill Sazonov. Therefore, he added, the Russian elite really wants to “dump” Putin. Attorney Ilya Remeslo – a fervent advocate of the Ukraine invasion, believed to have ties to security agencies – declared the conflict has become a catastrophic disaster with casualties approaching two million. He insisted Putin must be "prosecuted as a war criminal and a thief."
Remeslo made it known today that he’s prepared to accept imprisonment for his criticism of the Russian leader, and pledged he will ultimately be proven right. Russian sociologist and political analyst Igor Eidman characterized Remeslo’s "mutiny" as evidence of a profound divide within the ruling class.
"This is a conspiracy by a significant portion of the Russian elite, who are interested in accepting Trump’s offer to freeze the war," he said.
"This group is extremely dissatisfied with Putin’s effectively rejecting Trump’s extended hand."
