Russia, the aggressor state, acknowledges its lag in the heavy drone space , despite Ukraine’s active use of such technologies. As a result, the Russian military is beginning to develop new platforms for cargo transportation and strike missions, Defense Express reports .
It is noted that during a recent "direct line" broadcast, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin stated that Russian occupation forces are inferior to Ukraine in the number of Baba Yaga-type drones. He emphasized that Ukraine has an advantage in this segment, which creates pressure on the Russian army and stimulates the development of new technologies to fill the gap.
Following this, the company Dronax announced work on heavy-duty transport drones capable of lifting loads weighing up to 100 kg.
Company representatives note that the new platforms will allow Russian troops to "cover new scenarios for the transport of particularly large cargo."
Defense Express adds that the CHK-15SVO drone, which has a payload capacity of up to 100 kg and recently completed testing, is an example. It is equipped with a system for dropping cargo and TM-62 anti-tank mines, which, according to the developers, represents a qualitative leap over previous platforms for small payloads.
"Russia continues to develop a number of different heavy drone projects in an effort to close the technological gap with Ukraine," the statement said.
The Main Intelligence Directorate reported that the Russian army, a terrorist state, has upgraded the "Molniya" FPV kamikaze drone, which is now also used for aerial reconnaissance. Russia has equipped it with a three-axis stabilized camera and a Starlink terminal. Since November 2024, Ukrainian military personnel and analysts have been recording the use of a kamikaze drone called "Molniya." The Russians first used it on November 12 during the attack on Kharkiv.
"Molniya" is a cost-effective drone made from plywood, cardboard, plastic, and foam. This approach significantly reduces production costs and makes the drone difficult to detect by Ukrainian radars and air defense systems.
