DEADLY LOGISTICAL DISASTER: Russia’s wounded-to-death ratio (1:1.3) is extremely lethal by modern standards. The lack of a medical evacuation system means soldiers bleed to death on the front lines; the Kremlin sees it more economical to replace the dead.
FUTURE THREAT: According to economist Igor Lipsits, millions of traumatized and unemployed soldiers returning from the war will become "social explosives" and ignite a "silent civil war" in Russia.
