This is Novorossiysk… the heart of Russia’s energy exports. However, when Ukrainian drones struck, the real earthquake struck 2,000 km east, in Astana. Because 80% of the oil struck belonged to Kazakhstan. By failing to protect its own port, Putin cut off the economic lifeline of its closest ally.
In this video, we analyze how the Novorossiysk attack turned into a historic opportunity that pushed Kazakhstan out of Russia’s orbit and into the Turkic World Energy Corridor:
🔹 BTC/CEYHAN ESCAPE: Kazakhstan decided to completely sideline Russia and redirect its oil to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline. While Novorossiysk is a battlefield, the Ceyhan Terminal offers stability and security under the NATO umbrella.
🔹 US AND WABTEC HITS: As part of $17.2 billion in agreements, the US is financing Kazakhstan’s logistical independence with a $4.2 billion investment in Wabtec locomotives. These locomotives will be the steel pillars of the Middle Corridor.
🔹 CHINESE PRESSURE: Russia’s weakness has fueled China’s ambition to acquire political influence in Central Asia with $23 billion in investments. While Kazakhstan is escaping the Russian threat, it needs BTC to escape China’s monopsony pressure.
🔹 SHADOW ECONOMIC WAR: The crisis began with the Orenburg Gas Plant attack before Novorossiysk and continued with truck queues blocked at the border between the two countries due to Russia’s paranoid security checks. Kazakhstan is responding to this blockade by using bureaucracy as a weapon. 🔹 CONCLUSION: Russia is losing the transit fees it collects for every barrel of oil passing through its territory and its power to manipulate the energy market. The flow of energy is shifting from war to stability, from Russia to Turkey and the Turkic World.
