A reconnaissance of Russian occupiers’ positions conducted by Ukrainian troops near Myrnohrad led to a successful operation during which a group of Russians hiding at a farm was eliminated.
This was reported by the press service of the 7th Air Assault Corps of the Air Assault Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“Over the past six months, the capture of Myrnohrad has remained one of the enemy’s key objectives on the Pokrovsk axis. After concentrating more than 10 units around the city, Russian forces continue to build up strength on its southern and northeastern outskirts,” the statement said.
To remain undetected, several Russian groups reportedly made repeated use of the site’s engineering infrastructure, including fecal pits, as concealment.
Once the hiding place was identified, units of the 79th Air Assault Brigade of the 7th Air Assault Corps eliminated the Russian personnel sheltering at the location.
During this period, Russian troops have continuously searched for weaknesses in the city’s defenses, adjusting their tactics, reinforcing units, and probing for potential breakthroughs. Despite sustained pressure, Ukrainian forces have held Myrnohrad, repeatedly disrupting Russian plans.
The situation in and around the city remains difficult. At the same time, Ukrainian commanders note that since the beginning of the year, Russian forces have reduced overt, large-scale assault operations and instead intensified infiltration efforts aimed at slipping into central areas of the city.
To prevent further enemy advances, Ukrainian Defense Forces are conducting ongoing search-and-strike operations in Myrnohrad and along its approaches.
It is known that Russian forces have concentrated more than ten units on the approaches to Myrnohrad, particularly in the southern and north-eastern outskirts.
According to the military, defensive actions are ongoing due to the threat of further enemy advancement. During one of the operations, Ukrainian fighters discovered shelters used by Russian troops, where the occupiers had been using cesspits to conceal their presence. The elimination of this group is important for stabilising the situation in the region. Ukrainian forces are holding the line in one of the most volatile sections of the front, with the northern part of Pokrovsk remaining under their control, according to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine General Oleksandr Syrskyi. Fighting near Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad in Donetsk Oblast remains intense, with Russian troops attempting daily breakthroughs.
In its ongoing push to seize all of Donetsk Oblast, Russia has made Pokrovsk and Myrnohrad top priorities. After months of fierce combat, Ukrainian troops continue to hold northern Pokrovsk and most of Myrnohrad.
General Syrskyi reported that the situation in the Pokrovsk axis is currently the most difficult along the frontline. He said Russian forces are trying to increase pressure on Ukrainian defensive lines by moving in additional reserves and carrying out continuous assaults and infiltration attempts. Despite this, Ukrainian troops are actively holding the line.
"Pokrovsk is under our control. We are stopping the enemy in Myrnohrad. We are conducting active defense," Syrskyi noted.
