Recently, missile troops and artillery of Ukrainian soldiers successfully attacked 17 areas of concentration of personnel, weapons and military equipment, three missile troops and artillery facilities, as well as one command post of the Russian occupiers. “The pilots of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and all Ukraine’s Defense Forces will continue to strike the enemy in order to reduce its military potential,” the General Staff of Ukraine stated.
Such strikes are also considered essential to thwarting Russia’s summer offensive.
Russia has stepped up its summer offensive in Ukraine, banking on new technology, breakthroughs and plans to encircle the Defence Forces, the Financial Times reports.
Since May, Russia has made its biggest territorial gains in Ukraine since November 2024. The main successes have been recorded in the Sumy region, where about 200 km² of territory have been captured. In addition, for the first time since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Russian forces have reached the border of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The key direction was the advance in the area of Konstantinovka in the Donetsk region. Russian troops are attacking the city from three sides, have advanced 10 km to the western flank, reducing the distance to the city to 12 km. This created a threat of encirclement and cutting off Konstantinovka from Pokrovsk. One of the main factors in the advancement was the fiber-optic-controlled strike drones. They do not respond to Ukrainian electronic warfare systems because they do not transmit signals via radio waves. As the Ukrainian commander of the drone unit explained:
"At the moment you are lucky if you drive five kilometers from the front line and your car still works. That’s how they work, everything else is an exception now."
These drones strike deep into logistics targets 30-40 km deep into Ukrainian territory. They attacked Ukrainian trucks, destroyed warehouses on the road between Kramatorsk and Dobropillya.
