Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces have struck 16 Russian air defense systems and radars with a combined worth of up to 200 million USD. The operations to destroy air defence assets were carried out over the course of 16 days in April. Among the hit targets are an S-400 “Triumf” radar; a P-37 “Mech” radar – 1; “Zoopark” radar; two Buk-M1 air defense systems; a Buk-M3 air defense system; three Tor-M1 air defense systems; two Tor-M2 air defense systems; three Pantsir-S1 air defense systems; an Osa air defense system; a ZU-23-2 on an MT-LB chassis. Pantsir-S1 air defense missile-gun system was shot down by drones of Ukraine’s Security Service in Mariupol in eastern Donetsk region. This air defense system – a self-propelled anti-aircraft missile and gun complex – is considered one of the most effective in the Russian army for countering long-range UAVs with a range of up to 20 kilometres and the ability to intercept targets at altitudes from 0 meters up to 15 km. Video footage released in social media captures precision strikes on valuable Russian air defence assets in various operations across the frontline. The systematically elimination of Russian air defence systems, facilitates the work of Ukrainian drones that are cost efficient and easy to make. Some of these drones are assembled in kitchens, however have the ability to strike legitimate military targets in the most remote areas. It’s worth noting that Ukraine has stepped up long-range strikes on Russian military targets in occupied parts of the country and beyond the immediate front lines. Using a mix of long-range drones, missiles, and sabotage operations, Ukraine has focused on degrading Russia’s logistics, command nodes, and aerial defence networks that protect key assets like air bases and ammunition depots. These strikes have reached regions such as Belgorod, Kursk, and even as far as Tatarstan, illustrating an expanding operational reach.
