Central Asia–Center gas pipeline controlled by Russia’s Gazprom company has gone out of service following a series of explosions in Russia’s Volgograd region, Kyiv Post reported on Saturday, citing a source within Ukraine’s Main Intelligence Directorate, HUR. The pipeline transports natural gas from Turkmenistan through Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan into Russia. However, it also supplies energy to major Russian military-industrial complex, including the Demikhov Machine-Building Plant, the Russian Aircraft Corporation, the Magnum-K ammunition plant, and others, according to the report. Russian emergency services were dispatched to the scene following the explosions. Repair crews and law enforcement crews also arrived near the village of Dynamovskoe in the Nekhaevsky district of Volgograd to deal with the aftermath of the explosions. Earlier on Saturday, the General Staff of Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed striking major Russian defence and energy infrastructure facilities in response to Russian strikes on Ukrainian cities that killed dozens of people this week. Russian air raids on capital Kyiv on Thursday killed at least 31 people. Russia launched record 6,297 long-range drones on Ukraine in July.
