Drones operated by Ukraine’s Security Service have struck a special forces unit affiliated with Russia’s Federal Security Service, FSB. A command post and a temporary deployment site belonging to the Mobile Operations Directorate of FSB in eastern Donetsk region was destroyed during the operation. Preliminary intelligence assessments suggest 27 Russian special forces personnel were eliminated. Of those, 12 officers were killed in action, and 15 others were wounded. According to the report, the operation involved eight precision strikes carried out at 8:01 a.m. on April 22 using FP-2 strike drones equipped with warheads weighing between 60 and 100 kilograms. Video footage shared in social media captures precision strikes on Russian targets. The Mobile Operations Directorate of the FSB is described as an operational special unit within the FSB’s counterintelligence service, functioning as a special purpose-style force tasked with carrying out specialized operations and “dirty war” missions in occupied territories and elsewhere in Ukraine. Ukraine has stepped up long-range strikes on Russian military targets in occupied territories and beyond the frontline. These strikes target high-value military assets and are aimed to reduce Russia’s ability to sustain combat operations in its four-year-war of invasion.
