Ukraine’s Unmanned Systems Forces struck a border patrol ship and air defence systems belonging to the Russian army. The Project 10410 border patrol ship code name “Svetlyak” was struck in the Caspian Sea near Kaspiysk on the night leading to May 17. The ship was equipped with a 1×2 launcher for the Igla-1M air defense system’ 1×1 76 mm AK-176M naval gun of 152 rounds; 1×6 30 mm AK-630M system of 2,000 rounds. Overall, the Unmanned Systems Forces carried out 186 strikes against 46 military targets and facilities. Apart from the ship, it hit a Tor-M2 air defense system in eastern Luhansk region; a strategic protected communications hub of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet in Crimea Peninsula; a fuel train in eastern Donetsk region; port cranes in southeastern Zaporizhzhia region; the command post of Russia’s 9th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 51st Army in Donetsk. Also hit in Donetsk were a UAV control center and the command post and deployment site of Russia’s 8th Army. Apart from these, telecommunications towers were struck in Zaporizhzhia region. It’s worse noting that Ukraine’s drone units have scaled up strikes on Russian strategic military facilities in occupied parts of the country as well as in Russian territory to hamper Moscow’s war efforts.
