Ukrainian military and security forces continue their defensive operation in the Pokrovsk district, liberating key areas of the city and holding back Russian attacks in the southern outskirts. Ukrainian Volunteer Army spokesman Sergei Bratchuk reported live on Espresso that Ukrainian forces had managed to completely clear the central part of Pokrovsk and improve the situation near the train station.
"Returning to Pokrovsk, I also see today that online, referring to the 7th Airborne Assault Corps, our 7th Corps—these titanic guys and girls, too—are holding Pokrovsk. Well, actually, there are special forces, the Main Intelligence Directorate, the Security Service of Ukraine, the Special Operations Forces, and other units working there," he noted. Then Bratchuk clarified that the operation required significant preparation.
"As of today, we’ve managed to clear the central part of Pokrovsk. "Clean it up," I mean, not by charging in with sabres and killing, say, half the troops, but by recapturing some of the ground. No. This was serious work, requiring planning and execution. And we’ve managed to accomplish a clear-up."
According to him, Ukrainian units also made progress near the railway station.
"We’ve managed to improve the situation around the railway station somewhat. We can’t say the situation has completely stabilized yet, but there are already signs of stabilization on our end," he explained.
The speaker emphasized that caution in statements is related to the safety of ongoing operations.
"Our guys are also in the southern part of Pokrovsk, where, as you know, the enemy has amassed a large number of its forces. That’s where they’ve been amassing them," Bratchuk added.
He calls the southern outskirts of Pokrovsk "the southern portal of hell" because Russian units and equipment are trying to break out from there.
"That’s where the Russians are pouring in and amassing accordingly. But even there, we have units," the speaker noted.
At the same time, according to him, there is no complete control over the city yet.
"Today, we can’t say we’ve fully regained control of Pokrovsk. I’ve already mentioned the southern part of the city, and a complete victory near Pokrovsk is, of course, a long way off. But the most important thing is that Ukraine’s defensive operation continues," Bratchuk emphasized.
İt is noted that an important enemy position was destroyed in Pokrovsk, which gave a significant tactical advantage to the Russian army on the battlefield. The height of the industrial facility was used by snipers of the enemy, who took a large area of the territory under fire control. Also, this building served as a point of accumulation of enemy personnel. In the village of Shakhovo of Pokrovskiy district the place of accumulation of stormtroopers of the Russian army was discovered and destroyed. In the village of Solntsevka of Pokrovsk the temporary deployment point and the ammunition crew was destroyed by drones. In the city of Dokuchaevsk the enemy’s ammunition warehouse was destroyed. In the village of Rybinskoe the location of the material and technical support unit was successfully defeated.
