Ten out of Iran’s 18 air bases have been destroyed as a result of combined US and Israeli strikes since February 28, Israel’s Alma research center reported in its analysis today. According to the analysis, the airstrikes have destroyed fighter jets, transport aircraft, radar systems, weapons depots, and runways across the country, severely degrading Tehran’s ability to project airpower. Among the targeted air bases is Mehrabad in capital Tehran where Israeli strikes destroyed smuggling aircraft and air-defense systems threatening Israeli jets, according to the report. Several F-4 and F-5 fighters destroyed and the runway cratered with multiple bombs in northern Tabriz city. Moreover, satellite imagery confirms destruction of Il-76, C-130 transports, and Su-22 fighters in Shiraz. Additionally, hardened aircraft hangars have been struck; UAV assets likely destroyed in Konarak. Taxiways, buildings, and SAM infrastructure hit in multiple waves in Isfahan city. Warehouses and nearby surface-to-air missile sites have been destroyed in Kermanshah. Furthermore, a US strike eliminated a radar system in Zahedan. Altogether, strikes have also targeted at least nine additional Iranian airfields, extending the damage beyond the country’s primary tactical aviation bases. Taken together, these attacks point to a broader effort to cripple Iran’s air power. The infrastructure that supports the Iranian Air Force – including its runways, aircraft fleets, and air-defense systems – is being steadily degraded in what appears to be a systematic campaign to dismantle its operational network. The United States and Israel launched a large-scale air campaign against Iran beginning on 28 February. The operation involved waves of air and missile strikes targeting military infrastructure, leadership compounds, and strategic facilities across several Iranian cities, including Tehran. The strikes were part of a broader effort to degrade Iran’s military capabilities and disrupt its missile and nuclear programs.
