Ukrainian military officials briefed President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on the situation at the front, with a focus on the Pokrovsk direction.
"There are results in destroying the enemy. I want to specially commend the units of the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade," the president said.
He also thanked the Special Operations Forces, the special forces of the Military Law Enforcement Service, the National Police, the Security Service of Ukraine, and the intelligence for effective actions in both the Pokrovsk and Kupiansk areas. "Thank you to the warriors of the 1st Separate Assault Regiment for high-quality combat work in Donetsk. I also thank the 55th Separate Artillery Brigade for fire support in the Pokrovsk area," Zelenskyy added.
He also expressed gratitude to units of the 127th Separate Heavy Mechanized Brigade for their battles in and near Kupiansk.
"The 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade in the Kostiantynivka direction — thank you, guys! And also in the Orikhiv direction, the 65th Separate Mechanized Brigade — thank you," the Ukrainian president stated.
Zelensky expressed special gratitude to the Ukrainian Defense Forces, the Security Service of Ukraine, and intelligence units for their "long-range sanctions against Russia."
"The reach of these sanctions is expanding, and so are the losses of Russia’s war machine. Moreover, we increasingly use not only Ukrainian drones but also our own missiles. They perform very well. I am grateful to our manufacturers," he added.
Pokrovsk remains one of the hottest areas on the front. Recently, Russia has deployed several sabotage groups there, and until recently, the number of Russian troops in the area was estimated at around 200.
Over the past week, Russian leader Vladimir Putin repeatedly claimed that Pokrovsk was allegedly "encircled" and even ordered journalists to be allowed into the combat zone.
Ukrainian officials reported that Russia deployed approximately 11,000 troops in an attempt to encircle the Pokrovsk agglomeration.
Counteroffensive operations are ongoing to unblock logistics. Stabilization measures are also being implemented.
According to Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi, the operation involves Ukrainian Armed Forces units, including drone operators and assault forces, as well as combined groups from the Special Operations Forces, the Security Service, and the Defense Intelligence
Syrskyi said he visited the front lines again and worked with corps and military units in the Pokrovsk direction, currently one of the most challenging areas. He received reports from local commanders on the situation and operational needs.
"In the Pokrovsk-Myrnohrad agglomeration, our troops are holding back the pressure of a multi-thousand-strong enemy force, which continues attempts to infiltrate residential areas and cut our supply routes. However, there is no encirclement or blockade of the cities. We are doing everything to maintain logistics," he said. A comprehensive operation is underway to destroy and push Russian forces out of Pokrovsk. Various units are involved, including Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence.
