(FOX40.COM) — A person who was taken to the hospital in critical condition after a multi-vehicle crash Sunday evening was pronounced dead, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. on 16th Street and E Street. Police said there were there were three cars involved. It is unclear what caused the crash, but one person, a man, was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
Despite life-saving measures, police said the man died from his injuries.
The incident is under investigation and the surrounding roadways remain closed until further notice. Anyone who witnessed the crash or has relevant information can call 916-443-HELP (4357).
