Man dies from contracting lyssavirus from a bat bite | ABC News

NSW Health have confirmed a man from Northern NSW has died from Australian bat lyssavirus. The man was bitten by a bat several months ago. Lyssavirus is a rabies-like virus transmitted by a bite or a scratch from a bat. Australian bat lyssavirus is an extremely rare disease that can be fatal.
