(Frontline, Eastern Ukraine) – A video has surfaced showing a dramatic aerial confrontation between Ukrainian and Russian drones. The footage, shared by Ukrainian telecommunications expert Serhii Flesch via his Telegram channel “Pro zviazok,” reveals a tactical battle in the skies as a Ukrainian Mavic drone spots a Russian surveillance drone suspended by fibre optic cable and takes immediate action.
The video shows the Ukrainian drone identifying the enemy device mid-air, which was tethered to the ground through optical fibre – a technique often used by Russian forces to maintain a stable control link and avoid radio jamming. Upon detection, the Ukrainian drone swoops down, slicing through the cable with its rotors in a deliberate and calculated move. The action likely disabled the Russian drone, rendering it useless for surveillance and potential targeting operations.
No monetary value was attached to the destroyed Russian drone, but similar surveillance systems can cost in excess of £4,000 (approximately 190,000 UAH), while the Ukrainian Mavic models used often range from £1,000 to £2,000 (roughly 47,000 to 95,000 UAH).
