New developments have been recorded on the front: Azov officially released a video of multiple hits on enemy vehicles near Mariupol. Previously, the unit reported fire control of roads around Donetsk.
It appears that for the first time, massive strikes to a depth of more than 120 kilometers into enemy territory are being carried out not by a special forces unit hunting for Russian generals, air defense systems, missile systems, and other expensive weapons, but by a frontline corps demonstrating a more routine, but in reality far more deadly for enemy ground forces, "procedure" – logistics control.
Control of logistics, by and large, is the same as control of land. Denying the enemy any firepower, whether trucks or passenger vehicles, for hundreds of kilometers into their territory will mean that not a single tank, gun, or truck carrying infantry or ammunition will be able to travel freely until it poses a threat to our troops. We may not realize how powerful and geopolitically significant this is. Against the backdrop of the spectacular explosions in Tuapse and Ust-Luga, it really doesn’t seem so noticeable. But it’s another, at least no less significant, fact of Russia’s slide toward defeat.
As is well known, one of the "realistic" scenarios for the Russians to pause the war is to secure the creation of a land corridor to Crimea. This Crimea is associated with the most successful Russian operation of this century. A clear prize, the brightest moment of Putinism for Putinists. Moscow can try to justify all subsequent horrific losses from 2022 onward by arguing that it has strengthened its ties to the peninsula, supposedly firmly anchoring it to the empire not with a thin bridge, but with a strip of solid ground. Really, who in the Russian public cares about the exact number of districts in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions controlled by Russia? Now Crimea is no longer surrounded by hostile elements—that is, water and Ukrainians—but is forever Russian, because a wide steppe route leads to it.
But the Azov video shows us that things are no longer quite like that. That completely shutting down any ground logistics, knocking out diesel locomotives, bombing train cars, and burning any vehicle is a completely realistic goal. "Azov" is several thousand drone operators who will patrol every road from the LBC to the Sea of Azov around the clock. For them, it’s personal.
And is it just Azov? This technology already exists, or will soon be available to related companies that are "looking" towards the sea from areas near the Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions. And this is just one example. Essentially, all of Ukraine’s territory outside our control will sooner or later become a risk zone for Russians. Such is the logic of technological progress. Donetsk and Luhansk will soon be surrounded – not by our infantry and tanks, but by our winged robots. Looking ahead, I’ll answer the question: "Will the Russians be able to make a similar move and blockade Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Kharkiv?" The answer is: theoretically, yes, but it will certainly be 10 times more difficult and 10 times more expensive for them now.
And that same Girkin-Strelkov, the star of Russia’s "patriotic" Telegram channels, despite being in prison, understands everything about the expansion of our air capabilities correctly. He predicts our landing in Crimea, claiming that the Ukrainians already have sufficient forces to organize a "drone umbrella" over the landing area.
