In the new episode of Close-Up, TVP World journalist Aleksandra Żaczek takes a closer look at how people with disabilities are perceived in society and what still needs to change to make everyday life more inclusive.
The episode features the report “Vice Miss on Wheelchair,” by Magdalena Włodarczyk, which tells the story of Ania Płoszyńska-Korzeniak. After a traumatic accident during karate training left her with a disability, she refused to give up on her ambitions. Today, she is an accomplished swimmer and the second runner-up in the Miss Wheelchair World competition in Mexico. The story offers a powerful message: it is not disability itself that holds people back, but the environment around them.
The episode also includes a conversation with Oskar Pągowski from the Avalon Foundation, who discusses how people with disabilities experience everyday life, how social attitudes are evolving, and what initiatives can help build a more inclusive society.
