Poland strengthens ties with Europe’s security system | News in Depth

TVP World’s Editor-in-Chief, Michał Broniatowski on Poland’s security decisions. Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Poland will not join President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, while the country plans to pass a bill for the Security Action for Europe, or SAFE program. This indicates a clear signal of Poland placing its bet on European security. The EU’s support for European defense industries through the SAFE program is set to boost the Polish defense sector, even if arms acquisitions from outside the EU aren’t prohibited. Moreover, the latest signals from Brussels concerning granting Ukraine an early form of admission to the bloc, may also be seen as a sign of strengthening security in Europe, even as Orbán’s Hungary appears to be drifting away.
