In the Orikhiv direction, Russian troops are trying to infiltrate in small groups, looking for weak spots in the defense. At the same time, the Defense Forces are striking at enemy positions, disrupting their attempts to accumulate forces and advance.
This was stated by the captain, head of the communications department of the 65th separate mechanized brigade "Velyky Lug" Serhiy Skibchik in the project "Ukrainian Focus. Morning" on Slawa.TV and Espresso.
"The Orikhiv direction has become significantly more active. We see an intensification of the enemy’s assault actions, but, thanks to the preventive actions of our units, we manage to stop their accumulation, to stop them even on the approaches to our positions.
"We are looking for their positions, accumulation positions, infantry accumulation points, positions from which UAVs operate, and we are preemptively destroying them. Therefore, today the enemy’s only tactic is infiltration by small infantry groups into our ranks. Their movements are being studied and analyzed, and, of course, we are working to prevent them," Skibczyk noted. According to the captain, the enemy’s main tactic is to cut off logistics. To do this, the Russians are trying to expand the so-called cordon zone, which currently reaches 25–30 kilometers. At the same time, towards the Russian deep rear, its length is up to 45 kilometers. As the military noted, the Ukrainian Defense Forces create significant difficulties for the enemy to accumulate resources and transfer personnel.
"In addition, Russian troops are looking for weaknesses in Ukrainian defense and are actively probing battle formations at junctions with adjacent units.
In particular, we can already openly say that they are trying to enter through the gas pipeline from Nesteryanka to Zarechny and Komyshuvakha. We are observing all these movements and working on them. That is, this is not a pipe for their successful advancement, but a pipe to bury them there," Skibchyk emphasized.
The head of the communications department of the 65th separate mechanized brigade "Veliky Lug" also added that quite elite Russian units entered the Orikhiv direction, such as "Rubikon" – pilots of strike drones working to destroy the logistics of the Defense Forces, as well as the 11th separate airborne assault division of the Airborne Forces, which is working on the gas pipeline.
"But there is no threat of encirclement or semi-encirclement of the Orikhiv agglomeration today. We are working preventively to prevent the accumulation of enemy resources for further mechanized or foot assaults," Skibczyk noted. Russian forces are disguising themselves in civilian clothing in an attempt to advance on the Orikhiv front line and avoid detection by Ukrainian aerial surveillance, Ukraine’s Defense Intelligence reported. “Muscovites from the 7th Air Assault Division of the Russian Armed Forces are grossly violating international humanitarian law in the Orikhiv direction. To somehow advance and avoid receiving a ‘greeting’ from the sky from Ukraine’s Defense Forces, the invaders are disguising themselves as civilians,” HUR said.
Ukrainian intelligence emphasized that the use of civilian clothing by combatants constitutes a war crime and increases risks for civilians in the combat zone.
The agency also stated that accountability would follow. “For every war crime committed against Ukraine, there will be fair retribution,” it said.
HUR additionally addressed Russian soldiers directly, urging those unwilling to participate in such actions to surrender. “Every Russian serviceman who does not want to take part in war crimes has a chance to save his life—by contacting the secure Telegram bot of the ‘I Want to Live’ project,” the agency said.
This is not the first time Russian forces have resorted to disguising themselves in civilian clothing as part of their tactics on the battlefield.
