The recent car accident involving the Chechen leader’s youngest son, Adam, may be a battle for succession. Russian opposition figure and sociologist Igor Eidman expressed this opinion in his blog . Recently, Ukrainian military intelligence reported that Kadyrov’s kidneys had failed, and his condition had worsened. Just a couple of days later, Kadyrov’s successor was involved in a serious car accident and is rumored to be in critical condition in Moscow’s intensive care unit. There is every reason to believe these events are connected. " Kadyrov is still alive, but the clan war over his succession has already begun. I said in a recent broadcast that Ramzan’s attempt to make Adam his heir will not please many in the Chechen elite; his chances of gaining power, or even simply surviving in this situation, are extremely doubtful. Everything happened even faster than I thought. Most likely, the accident that nearly killed Adam was orchestrated by those who want to prevent him from inheriting his father’s ‘throne,’ other contenders for power. War within Kadyrov’s elite is becoming inevitable ," Eidman wrote. He clarified that the situation is becoming explosive for the Kremlin. Russia, bogged down in a bloody war against Ukraine, no longer has the military resources to stabilize Chechnya. " An uprising and a second front in Chechnya could turn into a catastrophe for Putin’s regime ," Eidman stated.
Media previously reported that Kadyrov rushed to "prove his loyalty" to Moscow despite his serious illness – media outlets voiced three conditions from the Kremlin.

Magomedov is confident that the Kremlin authorities don’t care about rumors of a supposed power struggle in Chechnya, since the final decision on who will succeed Kadyrov will rest with them alone.
