A large-scale landslide stretching several kilometers occurred in the Republic of Dagestan. The incident took place in a mountainous area near the village of Nizhniye Ubekimakhi in the Levashinsky District.
Tons of soil broke off from the mountainside and fell into a local river, creating a risk of flooding for nearby settlements. According to Russian media, a high alert had previously been declared in the area due to the risk of landslides. Several residential houses were located within the danger zone. The cause of the landslide is believed to be heavy rains that have continued in the region since the end of March, saturating the soil with water and triggering the collapse. No information about casualties has been reported.
